As cybercrime continues to increase and the securing of investigators with specialized skills becomes a challenge, the prefectural police headquarters held an event at Fukuoka Institute of Technology to introduce the work of cybercrime investigation. The event, held on the campus of Fukuoka Institute of Technology in Higashi Ward, Fukuoka City, was organized by the prefectural police headquarters in an effort to recruit talent by promoting knowledge of cybercrime investigation work. Students used their knowledge and skills in information engineering to solve problems designed like a technical competition for engineers, and they competed for speed and accuracy. In addition, in the “investigation experience,” participants considered how to find a criminal using methods such as a scenario in which an image of a skirt being photographed up close was posted on SNS. According to the police, consultations related to cybercrime confirmed in the prefecture last year reached an all-time high of 6,316 cases, and the securing of personnel with specialized knowledge has become an issue.
