Fukuoka Prefecture Governor Wataru Aso led a group of 34 local business and academic leaders on a three-day visit to Taiwan. The group included officials from Yaskawa Electric, JR Kyushu, JA, and a council for Kyushu tourism promotion. They met with leaders in the local business community to forge closer ties in semiconductor manufacturing, agriculture, and tourism. It is the first time a Fukuoka Prefecture governor visited Taiwan since Japan ended formal diplomatic relations in 1972.
