Fukuoka Prefecture Requests Large Scale Shopping Facilities To Close on Weekends 

Fukuoka Prefecture tightened its business regulations to curtail the spread of the new coronavirus. Department stores, shopping malls (except shops for essential items,) some home appliance stores, fitness gyms and pachinko parlors, etc., would close on Sat. & Sun. during the state of emergency period (~5/31.) 

– Large scale facilities with a floor space of 1,000 m2 or larger would be requested to close on Saturdays and Sundays.
– Further efforts in reducing in-office work at local businesses.
– Residents and businesses are strictly asked to refrain from visiting other prefectures.

These requests are in addition to others in the original requests announced as of May 12. As of May 20, Fukuoka Prefecture reported 399 more cases of the new coronavirus infections and four deaths linked to the disease.
