Fukuoka Subway Adds Morning Trains to Ease Crowding

Fukuoka City Subway increased service on the Airport Line starting March 16 to help ease congestion during the morning commute. The line, which connects Meinohama and Fukuoka Airport, added two round-trip trains during weekday peak hours between the late 7 a.m. and early 9 a.m. period. According to the Fukuoka City Transportation Bureau, the change is expected to reduce the congestion rate during the busiest time from about 130% to 124%. The adjustment marks the first service increase since March 2025, when seven additional round trips were introduced. Separately, late-night operations will expand from April 1. The final train extension, previously offered only on Fridays, will apply Monday through Saturday, with last departures delayed by up to 35 minutes. Source: Fukuoka City Subway / KBC
