The Fukuoka Prefectural Board of Education will introduce new training courses for elementary and junior high school physical education teachers starting the next academic year. The courses will focus on “clothed swimming,” teaching methods to float in water while wearing full clothing. Scheduled before summer vacation, when water-related accidents usually spike, the training will enable teachers to experience the heaviness of water-soaked clothing and learn techniques for floating until help arrives.
