Fukuoka World Aquatics Championships 2023: Medal and Volunteer Uniform Designs To Be Revealed

Fukuoka, Japan: With just 50 days remaining until the commencement of the 2023 Fukuoka World Aquatics Championships, the event’s Organizing Committee has revealed the unique designs for the medals and volunteer uniforms.

The medal’s design was selected from 21 submissions, contributed by residents aged 20 and above from Fukuoka, Kumamoto, and Kagoshima cities. Mr. Daisuke Kobayashi of Sukedachi Design emerged as the successful designer. Additionally, the medal ribbon incorporates Hakata Ori, a traditional craft deeply associated with Fukuoka City.

In a unique initiative, designs for the uniforms to be worn by volunteers—responsible for carrying medals during award ceremonies—were solicited from local fashion design schools within Fukuoka City. Each school crafted designs specific to different sports.

The grand unveiling ceremony is set to take place on May 25th, from 3:45 to 4:15 pm local time, in the lobby of Fukuoka City Hall. Post the unveiling, the medals are scheduled for display in the City Hall lobby, enabling the public to view and appreciate these works of art. Source: Fukuoka City
