The directors of a new committee in the Saga Prefecture Assembly to deal with safety measures for atomic power held their first meeting, during which they made arrangements to debate emergency safety measures in Kyushu on June 2 and 3. Included in the discussions will be the policy for two nuclear reactors in Genkai-cho, which had been shut down for normal maintenance and inspection before the Tohoku earthquake, but have yet to resume operation. It is not known yet what stance the assembly will take, and the matter will be further discussed in mid-June. As it takes one month to resume full operations, the earliest it can return to normal is in mid-July.
