JR Kyushu announced limited ¥2,500 Hakata – Kumamoto shinkansen tickets, starting Sep. 1. The one-way ticket, named “Kyushu Net Hayatoku 7”, must be booked online seven days in advance. It offers passengers a discount of almost 50% (¥2,490 cheaper than regular tickets), making it the cheapest one-way shinkansen ticket currently available. All reserved seats on Kyushu Shinkansen line are subject to this promotion. JR is also offering the “Hayatoku Ofuku Ticket” – ¥5,000 return trip between Hakata and Kimamoto – which can be purchased 3 days in advance at the ticket counter. This offer does not apply to all trains on the Kyushu Shinkansen line – so be sure to enquire in advance. Both tickets can be use for departures after October 1.
