High School Students Voice Community Concerns at Itoshima City Council Meeting

In an effort to spark interest in politics among the younger generation, Itoshima City invited high school students to a council meeting for an exchange of opinions with council members. On February 14, fourteen first and second-year students from Itoshima High School visited the newly operational city hall, inaugurated in January after the old building was replaced due to aging. The students, divided into three groups, presented their views on various issues, including a request to make roads around their school one-way during morning commute hours to improve safety and suggestions for nighttime garbage collection and new tourist spots along the coast. Second-year student, Ueno Aoi, expressed hopes for measures to prevent commuting accidents and a desire to participate in elections upon reaching adulthood. Source: NHK
