Hojicha and Nihonshu Blended Beverage Debuts in Fukuoka

Hojicha Sake, a new sake combining Fukuoka Prefecture’s specialty Yamecha tea and sake has been developed. Representatives from a tea manufacturing company in Yame City, a sake brewery, and a bar in Fukuoka City, who was involved in the development of the sake, visited the prefectural government and reported the completion of the sake to Governor Hattori. The sake was made by extracting a carefully selected blend of Yame tea with sake brewed with local sake rice and is characterized by the aroma and richness of hojicha (roasted green tea) while maintaining the alcohol content. The hojicha sake will be sold at sake breweries in Yame City and department stores in the prefecture. Source: Fukuoka Prefecture / NHK
