Huis Ten Bosch announced more details about the floating, orb-shaped hotel rooms that will transport visitors from the mainland to a nearby deserted island. Guests will board the boats at night and arrive at their destination by the next morning. The service begins this summer. A lottery system will give a limited number of guests the chance to experience the new service this spring. The spherical boats are made from fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) and have a diameter of 6.4 meters. The interior is approximately 28 square meters and can accommodate two to three people. Guests will have the choice of a Western or Japanese style interior and rooms will cost between ¥50,000 and ¥100,000. Source: Nikkei Shimbun, 3/6/2018
