The city of Iizuka in Fukuoka Prefecture announced it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Kyushu Institute of Technology, Kinki University, and the Japan Finance Corporation to support local SMBEs and promote start-ups from universities. JFC will offer its expertise in networks and fund procurement. Iizuka is already involved in the e-Zuka Tri-Valley Concept to attract venture capital-backed companies to the area. The city hopes to form particularly close ties with JFC to match corporate needs with the universities’ technology and promote their commercialization.
