Improper accounting practices regarding about 100 million yen from FY 2003-2008 means that several departments of the Kumamoto prefectural government will lose a total of 20.7 million yen. The prefecture’s final report on these losses includes a request that 5,400 people reimburse the prefecture, including retirees. Gov. Ikuo Urashima commented, “I hope we soon recover the trust of the prefectural citizens.”
