The Incubator Bank of Japan, which filed for bankruptcy on the 10th, has several branches throughout Kyushu that actively lend to small and medium-sized business enterprises. It is estimated that more than 100 Kyushu SMBE’s have received financing from the bank. The government’s 10-million-yen cap in deposit insurance has been invoked for the first time in 40 years, and companies are also worried about receiving continued financing. The bank’s temporary management may limit loan extensions only to the companies with the soundest finances, which is causing concerns about cash flow at other corporations.
