Tokyo-based Japan Power Graphite, manufacturers and sellers of negative electrode material, which is used for the lithium ion batteries in electric cars, revealed they will expand the production facilities at their Kitakyushu plant. They will build a third factory that will produce an estimated 2,000 tons of materially annually by 2013. In combination with their second plant, which is now under construction, the company’s production capacity will be boosted by 10 times, to about 3,000 tons per year.
