Kawasaki Heavy Industries announced that it will close the Oita motorcycle parts plant of Kawasaki Oita Seisakujo, a wholly owned subsidiary, next March. Motorcycle manufacturers are shifting production to China and Southeast Asia due to a declining population and falling demand for the product. The plant was opened in 1981 and employs about 70 people.
