Tochikuken, the Kitakyushu-based company behind the famed “kashiwameshi” chicken bento, has transferred its business to Osako Holdings, a Fukuoka real estate firm managed by the Zenrin founding family. All 120 employees and 13 outlets will be retained, with the new company adopting the Tochikuken name. Established in 1921, the firm had faced eight straight years of losses due to rising rice and labor costs. President Makoto Satake said the taste will remain unchanged as he stays on as an advisor to oversee quality. Source: TNC
