Kitakyushu Company Mulls Import of Old Electrical Products for Resource Farming

Kitakyushu-based recycling company Nippon Magnetic Dressing revealed that it will conduct a study with the cooperation of the city government of the possibility of importing discarded electrical products from India to extract the rare earth metals and gold used in their manufacture. They will begin the study in India in mid-May. A consumer electronics recycling law similar to that in Japan will take effect in India next January, but the country’s processing and recycling technology needs modernization. Most of the processing is conducted manually by government-designated companies. Nippon Magnetic Dressing said they will consider exporting technology and conducting operations on-site if they think they can turn a profit.
