The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) announced the selection of Kitakyushu as the first green growth model city in Asia. Kitakyushu is the fourth city selected for the organization’s Green Cities Program, after Paris, Chicago and Stockholm. The program is designed to publicize cities that promote green growth strategies through sustainable economic growth and R&D investments in the environmental sector.
