Kitakyushu City has unveiled a disaster preparedness plan urging residents to stock at least three days’ worth of portable toilets in case of a large-scale emergency. The initiative follows lessons learned from the Noto Peninsula earthquake, where prolonged disruptions affected sanitation infrastructure.
The city also aims to raise public awareness of proper usage and maintenance of emergency toilets.
