The Higo Bank in Kumamoto Prefecture will launch ‘Startup Hub Kumamoto,’ after more than six hundred local businesses went bankrupt during the ongoing pandemic in central Kumamoto. The industry-government-academia collaboration project will be the first one-stop-shop in Japan to provide support for business creation. To survive the loss of 20~30 percent of local businesses in a short period, Kumamoto’s Startup Hub will officially launch in April 2022 with a fund of around ¥1 billion. The project’s goal is to support creating 700 new companies and 2,100 job positions in the first five years. Source: FNN / Kumanichi
