VisionBio of Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture, is now offering a service for the DNA analysis of nearly all plants and animals. Previously, this analysis was possible only for fish, mammals, and plants, but the Kurume company can now provide a detailed breakdown for bacteria and insects. Of particular interest is their analysis of rice as concerns grow about food safety. They can determine whether a specific rice variety has been adulterated with other types.
