The Kyushu Bureau of Economy, Trade, and Industry launched a forum to serve as a network for the medical industry, academia, and government to promote the growth of the industry in the region. Many companies in the industry are concentrating in Oita and Miyazaki prefectures, so the bureau wanted to strengthen ties between those companies and medical institutions and universities. They hope to help establish the medical industry into a high added-value industry on the level with the auto and semiconductor industries in Kyushu.
