The Kyushu region is blessed with abundant sources of natural energy, and the number of companies building megasolar power plants is rising. The region already accounts for 17% of the nation’s solar power generation, 16% of its wind power generation, and 40% of its thermal power generation. A new system for purchasing power at fixed costs will begin in July, which is spurring plans for the further construction of megasolar plants, reports the Nishinippon Shimbun.
