The automobile manufacturers based in Kyushu revealed that they would change their work schedule to operate their plants on Saturdays and Sundays, while giving their workers Thursdays and Fridays off. They will shift production to weekends to help conserve energy because power consumption during the weekends is lower than on a weekday. The companies making the switch include Toyota, Nissan, and Daihatsu. Honda will do the same for its motorcycle plant.
