Kyushu Companies Planning Overseas Business Expansion

The Fukuoka Financial Group (FFG) and the Kyushu Economic Research Center released a report on their February 2008 survey of the Asian business strategies of Kyushu companies. Of those companies responding to the questionnaire, 34% said they planned to expand their businesses overseas. A detailed look at these strategies shows that 74.1% planned to increase imports, 34.7% planned to increase exports, and 22.9% planned to establish a physical presence overseas for production, sales, or information gathering. The most frequently cited reasons for this expansion were to develop new markets and cut production costs.
