Both Kyushu Electric Power and Saibu Gas will raise their rates in November to reflect the higher costs of imported fuel and materials. It will be the ninth consecutive monthly rate increase for both utilities. The calculations used were based on the average prices of fuel from June to August. While oil prices declined slightly, liquid natural gas prices skyrocketed during the period. Four electric power companies do not have LNG thermal plants, and so will not raise rates, but Kyushu Electric is one of the six that do.
