Kyushu Electric Power announced it had recorded a net loss of 100.93 billion yen on its consolidated account for the April – June quarter this year. The primary factor was the oil purchases required to generate power with the utility’s six nuclear power plants idled. Not only is this is much larger than the 8.26 billion yen loss of the year-before period, it is the largest quarterly loss in the utility’s history.
