The Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry revealed the results of their survey of factory placement trends for the first half of the calendar year. During that period, a total of 97 factories were planned to be built in Kyushu’s seven prefectures, an 11.8% drop from the previous year. The ministry says the primary factor was the sharp decline in totals for Oita Prefecture, where companies in the shipbuilding industry were very active last year.
