A committee of the Kyushu Mayors’ Council held a conference at a Kitakyushu hotel last week to promote plans to create a Kyushu-wide provincial style government. They announced the creation of a subcommittee to accelerate their efforts through concrete steps. The committee also adopted a proposal with a specific timetable for creating a state/province type of governmental system in Japan that would transcend existing prefectures.
