The results of the national census were announced, and as part of that census it was revealed that the population of the seven Kyushu prefectures was 13,204,474. That’s a decline of 148,460 from the census of five years ago, and is the second consecutive decline for the region’s population as measured by the census. Of the seven prefectures, the population rose only in Fukuoka Prefecture. The prefecture with the largest drop was Nagasaki Prefecture, at 3.5%.
