Kyushu Sets Record with 4,260,000 Foreign Visitors in 2024

The Kyushu Transport Bureau announced that 4,260,525 foreign visitors arrived in Kyushu in 2024, a 37% increase from the previous year and the highest ever recorded. This figure surpasses the pre-pandemic 2018 record of 3,623,748 visitors, driven by rising inbound tourism from East and Southeast Asia amid a weak yen.

In December alone, 388,157 visitors arrived, marking a monthly record. Cruise passengers were excluded from this tally; however, including them, October’s confirmed figure reached 440,526. By nationality, South Koreans led the October arrivals with over 200,000 visitors, followed by travelers from China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Source: The Kyushu Transport Bureau
