Chikuzen city has announced that the LED illumination of Shin Godzilla will be cancelled. The decision was made after a five-year-old child has lost his life in a fire in the exhibition building in Tokyo’s Meiji Shrine. They believe the combination of LED lights and straw is too risky to to continue with the light-up. As a tribute to the new Godzilla movie, the eyes, mouth, chest and the tail of Shin Godzilla were lit with LED lights at night. Shin Godzilla will be lit by external lights so that it can still be seen at night. Source: Mainichi Shinbun, Nov. 8, 2016
