Mentaiko Market Shrinking

The Fukuoka branch of Teikoku Databank released the results of its survey of the national mentaiko industry. Sales for the top 20 companies in the industry in 2010 totalled 101.61 billion. That represents a 4.8% drop from the previous year. Teikoku Databank attributed this to the plunge in price for pollock eggs. That resulted in new entrants to the market, which forced prices down.
