Hideji, a microbrew produced in Nobeoka, Miyazaki Prefecture, has won its second national award in beer competitions. It received its most recent gold medal in the International Beer Competition 2009 held in Tokyo in August. A total of 169 brands produced by 51 companies from Japan and overseas were represented. The Miyazaki beer, sold under the Hideji brand, was the winner in the German pilsner division. It won its first gold medal in a national competition last April.
