The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has determined it will distribute 276.6 billion yen in special tax grants for the month of December. A total of 16.6 billion yen will be distributed to local governments in Miyazaki Prefecture to offset the costs for measures they took to combat the foot-and-mouth disease epidemic in April. The prefecture itself will receive 10.87 billion yen to deal with the epidemic in addition to the usual 1.94 billion yen allocation, making a total of roughly 12.8 billion yen.
