Shunji Kono, the governor of Miyazaki Prefecture, has made clear his intention to ask that two sports up for consideration for addition to the 2020 Olympic Games be held in Miyazaki. The sports in question, which are being reviewed by the International Olympic Committee, are baseball/softball and surfing. Governor Kono stressed Miyazaki’s track record as the site of training camps for seven professional baseball teams and an international surfing tourney.
