Nagasaki Marriott Hotel Welcomes New London-Born General Manager

Cy West, a London-born professional, has been appointed the General Manager of the Nagasaki Marriott Hotel. This announcement was made by JR Kyushu Hotel Management, a 100% subsidiary of JR Kyushu that also oversees ‘Ureshino Yadoya’ – another prominent accommodation facility. West, who began his role in April, shared his initial focus during a press conference at the JR Kyushu Nagasaki Branch, stating that he plans to primarily concentrate on attracting domestic customers. His history with Marriott International stretches back to 2012, where he held strategic roles in sales and distribution for Japan and Guam.

The Nagasaki Marriott Hotel, set to open in 2024, will be nestled between the 7th and 13th floors of a building adjacent to JR Nagasaki Station. Its facilities, spanning approximately 20,000 square meters, will include 207 guest rooms, a restaurant, a bar, and a fitness gym. At this time, room rates are yet to be finalized.

Mr. West’s association with Japan began in 1992 when he participated in the government’s JET Program, serving as an Assistant Language Teacher in Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture. Discussing his vision for the hotel operations, West emphasized his aspiration to open the door for guests from around the world to experience Nagasaki, keeping in view the revival of inbound tourism.
