The Kyushu Economic Federation and the Kyushu Bureau of Economy, Trade, and Industry have launched a group to conduct research into the future of the auto industry. Topics to be studied include the diffusion of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, the shift to Asian sources for parts procurement due to the high yen, and ways to compete with overseas parts manufacturers. They will compile and submit a report by next January.
