New Fukuoka Budokan Opens January 2026

The new Fukuoka Budokan will open in January 2026 in Higashi Park, Hakata Ward, as a central hub for martial arts promotion in Fukuoka Prefecture. Featuring traditional Japanese architecture with Hakata-ori–inspired columns, it replaces the current facility in Ohori Park, which will be redeveloped as the new prefectural art museum. The new complex includes arenas for martial arts, archery, sumo, and basketball. Governor Seitaro Hattori said the prefecture aims to make it a facility loved by residents. An opening ceremony is planned for December. Source: Fukuoka Budokan
