Kyushu Electric Power began operation of its Mega Solar Power Plant in Omuta, Fukuoka Prefecture, on the 15th, on the site of its former coal-burning power plant. A mega solar plant is defined as a solar power plant that produces more than 1,000 kW of electricity, and the output of the Omuta plant is 3,000 kW, making it, along with the Sakai Power Plant operated by Kansai Electric Power, the largest in the country.
