Yesterday Fukuoka Now was invited aboard the brand new super high-tech and high-speed trimaran Queen Beetle. Built-in Australia, the 83-meter high-speed trimaran ferry will eventually operate between Fukuoka, Japan, and Busan, South Korea, and can transport 502 passengers at speeds of 37 knots. The vessel features a customized interior, developed by the highly-respected Japanese design house, Don Design Associates, famous for the luxuriously appointed interiors of JR Kyushu’s high-end passenger trains. Service between Fukuoka and Busan is on hold pending the impact of C19. In the meantime there are plans for shorter roundtrip cruises in the area of Fukuoka. Read more about that here. So what was it like? We’ll on the preview cruise the ship never got anywhere near its cruising speed. But still, it felt very stable and was whisper quiet. The interior was even better than expected. We’ll post a more detailed report soon. https://youtu.be/XcbYe2tYZwY
