Rice Databank, a Tokyo company analyzing the rice market, released their forecasts for the current year’s rice crop. While their evaluation of the national crop was “somewhat good”, that for the Kyushu crop was “somewhat poor” in six prefectures. Nagasaki’s crop was ranked as equal to that of an average year. One reason for the poor crop was the heavy rains this summer.
