The Kyushu Transport Bureau reported that the number of foreigners entering Japan through the seven Kyushu prefectures in April totaled 98,939 people, 3.8 times the year-before period. It is also the highest total recorded for the region in that month. While the year-on-year increase can be attributed to the downturn last year after the Tohoku disaster, this year’s total was also an 18.3% increase from the 2010 total, when the earthquake and tsunami weren’t factors.
