Panasonic Semiconductor Opto Devices will close its semiconductor plant in Hioki, Kagoshima Prefecture, next spring, it was learned. Panasonic Semiconductor, the parent company, told city and prefectural officials their intention was to reorganize their semiconductor operations. The plant’s operating subsidiary will be liquidated, and the employees transferred to other group companies in Fukui Prefecture and Kyoto.
