Plans to Privatize Odo Yacht Harbor

Fukuoka City revealed plans to privatize the Odo Yacht Harbor next April. The facilities that will be up for sale include two clubhouses and a floating dock that has the capacity to moor around 200 boats. The plot of land will be leased along with the breakwater structure and the seawall construction that protects the shore. The company with the winning bid will be expected to bear the cost of any renovations. The city will start accepting proposals for the harbor, which is located in Nishi-ku, from as early as June this year. The facility served as a base during the Fukuoka qualifying round of the America’s Cup in 2016 and is used by boat owners, high school and college students who take part in tournaments, as well competitors training for the Olympics. The harbor opened in 1975 and is approximately 120,000 square meters in size. Source: Yomiuri Shimbun, 2/22/2018
