Prefecture Begins TMA Testing for COVID-19

As of August 11, the prefecture introduced TMA, a new testing method for the virus infection. While the new test requires a longer waiting time for results, it reduces the number of workers needed to implement it. By operating both PCR and TMA tests, the region can now handle up to 2,450 tests per day. On August 11, Fukuoka Prefecture announced 54 more cases of the new coronavirus infection. The cumulative total now stands at 3,138. Also, the 38th death from COVID-19 (on August 10, involving a resident in her seventies) was reported. Sources: NHK / Asahi
