Members of the local community near Maizuru Park has come together after the news of the death of a popular cat named Tama-chan. Tama-chan was only three years old and was well-loved by locals and visitors to Maizuru Park. His owner lived nearby the park in Chuo-ku, and the cat often spent time at the busy park – his friendly nature charmed countless passersby. He was found dead on the morning of the Nov. 10. It believed he was hit by a car. News of his death spread by word of mouth and on internet sites. Some people even sent letters with messages of condolences, while others left cat food and pictures of Tama-chan on park benches. Here’s a link showing Tama-chan and turtles in the park.
