The Kyushu Transport Bureau released figures for the number of foreigners entering Kyushu through the region’s nine airports and 31 seaports. A total of 93,388 people from overseas entered during the month, which breaks the March record set in 2007. It was 2.3 times higher than the number of entrants during the year-before period, but that was due to the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami that occurred the same month. This year’s high totals was attributed to the increase in passengers on Kyushu-South Korean ferry lines and the growing use of regional airports by low-cost carriers.
