JR Kyushu Railways announced that reservations for the upcoming Golden Week holiday period are 90.7% less compared to the previous year. According to the announcement made on April 14, only 5.2% of 584,000 available tickets for Kyushu Shinkansen and conventional express trains between Apr. 24 ~ May 6 have been sold. The unprecedented decrease in sales reflects the serious impact of the spread of the new coronavirus as well as ongoing refrain from traveling into and out of Fukuoka Prefecture during the state of emergency.
